The Faculties of Applied Science and Medicine have announced the joint establishment of the School of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at UBC, effective July 1, 2017.

UBC Rocket team wins major category at world’s largest rocket engineering competition


The UBC Rocket team, formed last September, won first place in its category at the 2017 Spaceport America Cup, the world’s largest rocket engineering competition. Held in Las Cruces, New Mexico from June 20 to 24, the event brought together more than 90 college and university teams from nearly a dozen countries in six project categories.

APSC grad honoured by Environmental Managers Association of BC


A UBC Engineering graduate has received the Emerging Environmental Professional Award from the Environmental Managers Association of BC.

Alice Kruchten, who accepted the award at a gala at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club earlier this month, was recognized for her “professional achievement, innovation, experience and leadership, along with community involvement.”

Four UBC profs inducted into Canadian Academy of Engineering


Four UBC professors — Perry Adebar, PEng (Civil Engineering), Choon (Jim) Lim, PEng (Chemical and Biological Engineering), James Olson, PEng (Mechanical Engineering) and Marc Parlange, PEng (Civil Engineering) — have been inducted as fellows of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) in recognition of their "distinguished achievements and career-long service to the engineering profession."
